What is a Prospective Entrepreneur Visa?

The Standard Visitor visa has replaced the previous Prospective Entrepreneur visa. If you want to get funding to start, take over, join or run a business in the UK, you need to apply for a Standard Visitor visa to allow you to do so. Generally, a Standard Visitor visa allows you to stay in the UK for up to 6 months. The prospective entrepreneurs who are seeking funding may come to the UK for discussions to secure the funding which they plan to use to set up, take over, or join a business in the UK. You may also wish to consider a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. The funding sources could be one of the following:

• one or more registered venture capitalist firms regulated by the financial conduct authority
• one or more UK entrepreneurial seed funding competitions endorsed by the Department for International Trade’s (DIT)
• one or more UK Government Departments.

What are the eligibility requirements of a Prospective Entrepreneur Visa?

As with the standard Visitor Visa, you must always show that:

• you will leave the UK at the end of your visit
• you are able to support yourself for the duration of your trip and to pay for your return journey

In addition, you will require to show that:

• you have a letter of support from one of the above funding sources
